I was invited to join Coil Services as an Electronics Engineering Technician, providing design, service and maintenance for a fleet of Well Services and Nitrogen & Pipeline Services equipment for an independent service provider to the Oil and Gas Industry. The role involved all aspects of Electrical, Electronic and Instrumentation engineering, covering equipment such as Coiled Tubing, Fluid Pumps, Nitrogen Converter pumps, Capillary Coil, Slickline, and data acquisition, software, networks, telecoms, calibration, Fire and Gas safety systems, H2S and O2 sensors. As a small team we were responsible for prioritising a very changeable work pattern and ensuring that we were readily available for call-outs should the necessity arise, which it frequently did. Achievements: IntelleCT - (Intelligent Coiled Tubing) The company utilised slickline wire pumped inside coil for RT-SRO, Logging and Perforating. Winterising several units for deployment to Siberia.

Electrical / Electronics Specialist
HydraRig specialises in the manufacture of Coiled Tubing and Nitrogen Converter equipment for the Oil and Gas industry, particularly the market sectors of Intervention and Well stimulation. I was responsible for the supervision of the electrical department within the production division and assisted Engineering with the design. The equipment conformed to ATEX and NORSOK comprising all types of Ex protection for engine management, control and safety shutdown systems, purged and air-conditioned control cabins, Fire and Gas systems, data acquisition from the Well and BOP, from instrumentation and computer systems comprising various sensor input channels. On completion of manufacture, I carried out full testing and commissioning with the customer and become responsible for all electrical and electronic servicing and maintenance on a global scale, and often at very short notice.
